Decanter

Decanters come in many shapes — wide-based for maximum aeration of young wines, narrow for delicate old wines. The best are lead-free crystal with a flat base for stability. Some feature built-in aerators or filters. A decanter is both functional (separation from sediment, aeration) and ceremonial (wine service ritual).
