Blending
Beginner Winemaking & ViticultureDefinition
Combining different wines to improve the final product.
Im Detail
Blending can involve different grape varieties (Bordeaux blend), different vineyard blocks, different barrel lots, or even different vintages (non-vintage Champagne). Most wine is blended to some degree. Even single-varietal wines often blend lots from different tanks. The goal is a final wine greater than any individual component.
