Domaine
Beginner Regions & Terroirdoh-MEHN
Definition
A wine estate in Burgundy and other French regions.
Im Detail
Similar to château in Bordeaux but used primarily in Burgundy, the Loire, and the Rhône. A domaine grows its own grapes and makes its own wine (domaine-bottled), as opposed to a négociant who buys grapes or wine. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Leroy, and Domaine Leflaive are among Burgundy's most celebrated.
