En Détail
Burgundy's climats are specific, named vineyard parcels recognized since the Middle Ages. Each climat has distinct soil, exposure, and microclimate characteristics that produce recognizably different wines. In 2015, Burgundy's 1,247 climats were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The climat system represents the most granular terroir mapping in the wine world.
