Pétillant
Intermediate Wine Styles & Typespeh-tee-YAHN
Définition
Lightly sparkling wine with gentle effervescence.
En Détail
Pétillant wines have 1-2.5 atmospheres of pressure (versus 5-6 for fully sparkling). They feel gently fizzy rather than aggressively bubbly. Pétillant naturel (pét-nat) is made by bottling during primary fermentation — the ancestral method. Italian frizzante is the equivalent. These wines are typically informal, food-friendly, and lower in alcohol.
