In Depth
Amphorae were used throughout the Mediterranean for 6,000+ years. Georgian qvevri (buried clay vessels) represent the oldest continuous winemaking tradition. Modern winemakers use amphorae for their micro-oxygenation properties and connection to ancient tradition.
