Crisp

Beginner Tasting & Sensory

Definition

Describes a wine with refreshing, noticeable acidity.

In Depth

Crisp wines feel clean, bright, and thirst-quenching. The term is almost always positive and most commonly applied to white wines. Chablis, Sauvignon Blanc, and Vinho Verde are classic examples of crisp wines. Crispness makes wine an excellent food companion, particularly with seafood, salads, and goat cheese.
