Intermediate Wine Business & Trade

grahn VAN

Definition

A Bordeaux estate's primary, flagship wine.

In Depth

The grand vin receives the estate's best fruit and most favorable barrels. In great vintages, 60-70% of production may go to the grand vin; in difficult years, only 40-50%. The remainder becomes second or third wines. Grand vin represents the ultimate expression of the estate's terroir and style.
